One of my favorite things about being a teacher is giving students the opportunity to see that there are ways to think outside of the box. This is easy to do in a choice based art room where students are given the chance to experiment with media and themes, but I especially love when I can provide those experiences outside of the classroom as well. Today 22 high school students went with me to Art Prize 8 in downtown Grand Rapids for a chance to experience art outside of the classroom. As you can see from the video and photos, we had a lot of fun and left with a ton of inspiration for upcoming projects.
